Practical Nursing

The high school practical nursing (PN) program will prepare students to be entry-level practical nurses and train them in basic nursing skills and knowledge.  This preparation will enable students to function as collaborating members of the health care team in meeting the changing health needs of individuals, families, and cultural groups in the community.

The focus on the classroom theory and clinical practice encompasses: 1) the restoration, promotion, and maintenance of physical and mental health; 2) the prevention of illness for individuals and groups throughout the life span, and 3) effective utilization of current research for evidence-based nursing practice.

Students accepted into the PN program their senior year, and who meet all the criteria during that time, will be expected to continue the second year of the Practical Nursing program upon graduation from high school.
